Little by Little

My morning routine got completely sidetracked during our family’s move and with everyone starting at a new school and with new jobs. We have started to settle into a routine and I have wanted to get back into the routine of waking up earlier for some “me” time and to exercise. In the past, I would have the plan to wake up x number of days to exercise and then completely quit when I didn’t do it perfectly and “as planned.”

One of the concepts that helped me get started even having an early morning routine was this… What is one small action I could take to bring me closer to my goal? For me the first step was to wake up a little earlier. If you are having a hard time waking up early you sure as hell are not going to feel like exercising right from the start! Then after getting up a little earlier (could even be 10 min) do what feels good to you… reading, journaling, stretching, watching a favorite show, listening to a podcast, throwing in a load of laundry or packing the kids lunches to get ready for the day. Just take one small step towards your goal and little by little you will get there

Don’t shame yourself for not being able to do what you want to do right away. That only makes you stop trying because no one wants to feel shame every time they don’t do something they wish they could. Little by little has been my mantra along my way in so many areas of my life but I wanted to share it with you when you are starting something new. Whether it be a new business or starting out in a new morning routine, trust that little by little you will find your way.
